Seasoned salts are obviously pretty popular for home cooks. It seems like every time I look at the spice section at the supermarket, there are more and more flavors and blends available. The truth is you can make your own seasoned salts at home. It is so simple to do.
The Seasoned Salt that I’ve created is intended to replicate the one that was used at the original Tom Foolery’s restaurant in Milwaukee, WI where I worked years ago. The seasoned salt there was called “Broiler Salt” and was used on French fries, burgers and steaks. If anyone out there has the original recipe, please share it. I would love to compare it to the one I created.
It was so long ago I don’t think I could come close to theirs, but I think I have created a simple yet flavorful one. I love to use it on French fries (especially…..it makes the fries almost addictive), burgers, steaks, pork chops, grilled mushrooms, grilled potatoes…..the list goes on and on. I have even used it in place of the celery salt in a Bloody Mary. feel that the key to this Seasoned Salt is the crushed or ground celery seeds.
